With the coming of spring we've decided to renew our efforts for a healthier lifestyle. One thing we thought would be a good idea was to get a fruit bowl for our kitchen table. This way, rather than having them in our refrigerator crisper, out of sight out of mind, we have a constant reminder to eat more fruit. We'll see how it goes. If nothing else, we'll look a lot healthier to anyone that comes over to visit. And let's face it, we're ALL about appearances.April 29, 2009
Just a Bunch of Fruits

Hooray!
Provo has slowly, slowly cleared out. I love that people go home for the summer... it means more parking for us! Also, we can actually go out and do things without there being a huge crowd. It is a wonderful feeling.

Yager Kid's Easter Party
Every year we get more than our fill of candy at the kid's Easter party. This year was no exception. We had a great time. Except that ONE cousin was extremely late. Something about how he had just gotten engaged or something... excuses. So we all got a bit antsy waiting around in the kitchen (we couldn't venture into any other room of the house because the candy was hidden). Luckily, the kids stayed pretty entertained with the trick we taught them last year.
Last year:

This year:

When the very late cousin finally showed up, my grandma could give us out her directions. When I was younger, the directions were very specific. Three bags of skittles, two eggs, one toy, two bubbles... etc. But, since the family has grown, it isn't so specific. Still, however, there are directions.

After we all knew where we could and couldn't go, the search was on!

There was plenty of candy to be found. We all ended up with enough sugar to put a person into a diabetic coma. The baskets became so heavy it was hard for the younger kids to carry them. And, from the looks of it, I was so happy I couldn't even keep my eyes open!

My aunt Carol found the best treat of them all . . . funeral potatoes!

We all ate a nice Easter lunch after the search was over. It was a really nice day, and we'll be eating all the candy for the months and months to come.

And now, a brief message
Flaunting just 32 calories each and 0 grams of fat, it's PEEPS*! In the early 1950's it took 27 hours to make one peep; now, thanks to better technology it takes a mere 6 minutes! These treats have been an Easter best-seller for ten years now and have expanded to different holidays. They truly have lived true to their claim "Peeps, always in season!" Also, I'm pretty sure they never go bad.

The Twelve Apostates
On Monday, the Daily Universe (our college newspaper) published a newspaper with recaps of conference talks. It probably would have been a normal issue forgotten a day or two later, but they made one fatal error that has placed the Daily Universe in national news: they captioned a picture of the twelve apostles as "the twelve apostates."
Don't believe me? Look at the picture. Or, read the Yahoo!news article.

Invasion
"There are lights in the water...."

Our Tivo is so smart, it takes the programs that we've recorded and finds other similar programs and tapes them for us. So today, there was a show called "Invasion" taped. It was a one-season show (it ended because the premier was too close to hurricane katrina and it was a sensitive subject) that my family and I used to watch, and loved it. But then it ended. I think they threw all the alien people into the ocean? I don't remember how it ended because it was all hurried. It makes me wonder: are there still aliens in Florida? was the sheriff an alien? did the ex-wife have to die? I'm saddened because now I remember that the show never actually ended and my questions will never be answered.
