homeowners

we bought a house.

we've been waiting a long time for this house.
i'm pretty sure mike found it back in january.
we watched the price slowly drop.
and then one time we watched it go off the market,
and celebrated when that buyer's financing fell through.
poor previous buyer, but yay us!

so we are real detroit people now.
and if that makes you want to jokingly ask us if we live on eight mile,
the answer is yes. we do.
(this is our exit!)

right now, it's a very, very, very dated house.
it was built in 1963 and then i'm pretty sure it was stored inside a time capsule and never touched.
i mean, this is the actual oven that is in our house.

when i was doing some research on it, i found out it is the same oven pete campbell buys for his apartment in mad men.
for a day or two after learning this, i wanted to keep it.
i irrationally fell in love with my pete campbell oven.
then i remembered that i'm not employed by don draper, i don't live in the sixties, and stainless steel convection ovens are awesome.
so i bought one of those instead.

it's an awesome little house.
nestled right in the middle of a tree lined street that'll be perfect for trick or treating,
and next to the town's center street so i can plop the kids into the stroller and walk to pediatrician offices, dental offices, pet stores, dance classes, and biggby coffee.

our awesome little house has five bedrooms.
having three kids in a five bedroom is going to be so much nicer than having them in a two bedroom.

our awesome little house has its very own backyard.
it's going to be so nice to not have to watch my kids like a hawk while they play outside.
maybe i'll even start reading again.
i'm hoping i'll grow a green thumb and be able to save all the roses.
did i mention our awesome little house has about a million different rose bushes?

our awesome little house has a laundry room the size of my current bedroom.
maybe even bigger.
and every closet has custom built ins.

our awesome little house has wallpaper in every room,
and carpets that are destroyed,
and entire walls of mirrors.

so we've got our work cut out for us.
luckily we have a lot of family who is willing to come help us.
stay tuned for a lot of before/during/after pictures.

i love our awesome little house.
and i can't until we are all moved in.

  1. Yay! So happy for you and your awesome little house. I laughed out loud when you said maybe you'd start reading again. A thought I've had a time or two :) Excited for before and after pics!
