This last week, my cousin Derek left on his mission. We got to go to the temple with him on Friday night and then we went to his open house on Saturday to say goodbye.
We also asked him how he wanted us to remember him for the next two years and then took a picture. This is how he wants to be remembered:
Then we asked him how he didn’t want to be remembered and took a picture of that. This is how we’ll actually remember him for the next two years:
So, goodbye Derek! We’ll remember you like this until we see you again!
After his open house, we said, “Hello!” to Ikea and some new additions to our apartment. The first was a rod. We bought this spice rack a while back only to go home and realize that it is meant to hang on a rod and not stand alone. So now we can actually use our spice rack (it has also opened up a lot of room on our counter!).
And, since it is getting to be summer time, we decided to get a plant for our apartment as well. We weren’t quite sure how good our ability to keep things alive is, so we got bamboo. If we can’t keep this alive, we are doomed when it comes to pets, real plants, or children.
Bamboo is like the weed of Asia. You should be able to keep it alive.
