when three becomes four

our little marguerite jane finally joined us.

may eight two thousand twelve.

ten thirty two am.

eight pounds and one and a half ounces.

nineteen inches long.
we call her maggie.
or, more formally, miss maggie j.

delivered via repeat c-section.

things went smoother this time around.

and slower.

in a good, savor-the-moment kind of way.

looks just like daddy.

with a little mom and big brother mixed in.

has eyes that change between steel grey and deep blue.

likes to be cuddled.
and swaddled.
likes sleeping propped up on someone’s chest.



girl can eat.
even nurses are surprised at how much she can put away.
and how fast.
right now mom simply can’t keep up.



we are enjoying every cuddle.
all the excitement a new person brings.
and the calm before the storm.
because we still have a two year old boy out there.
life is about to get crazier than ever.
